Mercato Centrale

central market florenceThe Mercato Centrale in Florence is the largest of the Florence markets. Built in the restoration period in the 1860's (the others being Mercato Sant'Ambrogio and San Frediano which no longer exists). The building houses butchers, fishmongers and green grocers and provides the perfect place to try some of Tuscany's best produce. Cheese, prosciuto, wine and olive oil are all sold here in abundance of choice: in fact so vast is the array that there are market tasting tours to allow you to sample some of the best of each.

The market is open Monday to Saturday 8am til 2pm | Sunday Closed
